Provisions on Cases of the Defense Counsel Appointment in Vietnam and Orientation for Perfection

Abstract:
The article studies provisions of the Vietnamese law on cases where the State is required to appoint defense counsels to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the accused persons in the case settlement process when the accused persons, their representatives or kindred do not seek the assistance of defense counsels. The authors have used the document research method to clarify the formation and development of regulations on cases where the appointment of defense counsels for the accused persons is mandatory in Vietnam from the inception of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945 (the Socialist Republic of Vietnam now) until today, thereby showing the humanity of Vietnamese law in striving to increase further guarantee of the accused persons’ the right to defense. Moreover, the authors analyze and evaluate the existing limitations in the provisions on the cases of defense counsel appointment of the current Vietnamese law, as well as proposing solutions to perfect.

An Analysis of Socio-Economic Problems and Academic Performance of Biology Students in Yala L.G.A. of Cross River State

Abstract:
This research was to find out influence of socio-economic problems on the performance of students in senior school certificate examination in Yala Local government Area of Cross River State. Three hypotheses bordering on some of the socio-economic factors were formulated to guide the study. The population of the study consisted of all the senior secondary school students who wrote senior school certificate examination in 2019 in Yala Local Government Area. This consists of 416 students. A breakdown of this shows that 250 were males and 166 were females. The sample consisted of 100 respondents. This involved one biology teacher and nine students from each of the selected schools. Self-developed questionnaire was the research instrument used for the study. The statistical tool used to test these hypotheses was population t-test. The result of the study showed that: There is a significant influence of poor educational background on the performance of students in Biological Science in senior school certificate examination. Inadequacy of laboratory facilities affect students’ performance at senior school certificate examination. School location does not influence the performance of students in senior school certificate examination. Based on this it was recommended that among others (1) provision should be made for a better educational background and this should start at early stage of the child development (2) Governments community private organizations and school administrators should make available facilities for teaching and learning of Biological science in schools.

The Selection of Criminal Decisions Published Online in the Context of Vietnamese Law

Abstract:
This article studies regulations of Vietnamese law on selecting the court decisions in criminal cases related to online publication. The analysis method is used to clarify the regulations of the law on which decisions shall be published online and which ones shall be fallen into the excluded cases. The study also reviews some data and criminal cases on the internet to evaluate the suitability of the regulations in actual publication and shows inadequacies of these legal regulations. On that basis, the paper provides some recommendations for amendments and supplements to perfect the relevant provisions of Vietnamese law.

The Impact of Intellectual Capital on Organizational Reputation in Tafila Technical University

Abstract:
The study aimed to verify the impact of intellectual capital on the organizational reputation of Tafila Technical University. The study adopted three dimensions to measure intellectual capital (human capital, structural capital and relational capital), while organizational reputation was measured through five dimensions (trademark, social responsibility, attracting talent, emotional appeal and self-link). The study was conducted on a sample of (143) non-academic employees at Tafila Technical University in Jordan. The study used the quantitative descriptive approach to reach its objectives.
The study found that there are average levels for all dimensions of intellectual capital, while the dimensions of organizational reputation were different in terms of level, where the levels were average for three of them (trademak, attracting talent and emotional appeal), while the other two levels were at a high level (social responsibility and self-link). The results also indicated that there is a significant impact of intellectual capital on organizational reputation, and that the most influential dimensions of intellectual capital are relational capital, followed by structural capital.
